Hibernation Freezers

In the first half century of space colonization colony transports relied on hibernation freezers wherein passengers body temperatures were lowered for long-term cryo-sleep.

This technology was replaced by much safer sleepers in the 2180s.

Hibernation freezers are still used by smugglers, covert operations, and bulk transport of prisoners.
