Duncan Sinclair
Duncan Sinclair (born 3-2163):
The Sinclair couple came to Whalen’s Reach in the mid 2150’s where they became founding members of the exodus.
Duncan was born on Whalen’s Reach, an only and unexpected child in 2163.
Duncan’s parents were in poor health when they joined Hryken’s exodus.
In their early sixties, they knew leaving the Starguild meant shortening their lives, as Hryken’s fleet lacked the medical technology to meet their anticipated health needs.
Considering all the hazards, medical aid was a minor concern when Hryken’s fleet sailed into the unknown.
Duncan’s parents will die early by Starcaste standards where Starcaste life expectancy exceeded 100.
Everyone who joined Hryken’s exodus accepted this, as they would not have access to technology to extend life expectancy (longevity infusions).
Duncan was 16 YO when the exodus reached the Seven Worlds.
He spent his teens in the Hryken Household.
As a young adult, his talents were evident;
he became an aide in the Seven Worlds Senate which was administering resources and setting priorities for colony expansion.
Duncan witnessed firsthand the birth of a new society, and many believed Jonathan was grooming him as his protégé.
Duncan grew into a strong and independent voice that was expected to carry significant weight as he matured.
He shared common views with Jonathan Hryken on the goals and legacy of the Seven World.
But Duncan advocated militant defense, while Jonathan, who grew up in the Starguild, did not believe the Seven Worlds could oppose the Guild.
Jonathan foresaw their society surrendering peacefully when the Starguild found the Seven Worlds.
Until then, the Seven Worlds would set an example of what the Starguild might become.
Duncan believed the Seven Worlds should actively delay Starguild conquest.
A militant course of action was gaining strength in 2180.
The Senate authorized offensive action against the Starguild in direct opposition to Jonathan’s coalition.
The Seven Worlds Starforce began attacking critical Starguild assets within the Starguild.
Duncan was a junior official in the militant movement and was unaware of dragonstar technology.
But he surmised something dramatic had happened.
Later that year, the Seven Worlds Starforce recruited him and briefed him on the dragonstar.
Leaving his past life behind, Duncan applied himself to each new task and mastered each skill.
He finished starforce training and became an officer in starfleet command (2183; 20 YO) where he formulated plans for the defense of the Seven Worlds using dragonstar technology.
Duncan oversaw the development of the strikerail.
Gabrielle Hryken, Vladimir Iparb, and Duncan formulated the plans for offensive action in the Starguild.
The first dragonstar raid on New Eden would open a new era wherein a handful of strikerails could foil the Starguild without the Seven Worlds embracing a martial culture.
